55 Leroy Street Bermondsey, London

Refurbishment and extension of a previously decaying industrial building, creating new workspace for our expanding practice and additional commercial space for burgeoning West Bermondsey.

Project Status: Completed

We have refurbished and extended a once decaying industrial building in Bermondsey to provide high-quality workspace that supports our collaborative and social studio culture.

The original three-storey warehouse dates from the end of the 19th.c, constructed during the area’s industrial peak amongst leather tanneries, cloth, soap and food processing works. In recent year the building retained its commercial use but fell into a state of disrepair.

Temporary add-on structures have been removed, elevations significantly rebuilt and an additional floor with roof terrace was added. Where possible, existing features were retained and the carried through. The original structure is enhanced internally with a calm pared-back aesthetic of white walls and timber joinery.

The open plan space is dual aspect, receiving light throughout the day and fantastic views of the city and south London. The building now contributes to its immediate context whilst providing workspace for both Gort Scott and additional commercial tenants at ground floor.
